RossyBoy & Mello's Double Cross (Incomplete Project)

This is an unfinished project which I am posting now due to the immininent demise of the site. So grab the link while you can.
It was to be a breakthrough compilation because it would be the first truly interactive comp on TVD.
The concept was as follows:
Mello and I both sent six tracks to each other; then we would react to the other's picks by choosing six further tracks each. And you listeners would get to see the creative process because we would write a little piece on each of the second set of picks to show what was going through our minds in response to the originals.
Mello and I were finding it great fun and Mello is still working on his responses to the first six tracks I sent him. So, it is incomplete and now we have run out of road, but I hope you get some enjoyment from the partial result !

Track list
01 - Jerry Butler - Mr Dee Jay (I Got A Heartache) (RossyBoy)
(Mercury album "Mr Dream Merchant", 1967)
02 - The Impressions - As Long As You Love Me (RossyBoy)
(ABC Paramount, flip of "Gypsy Woman", 1961)
03 - Renaldo Domino - Just Say The Word (RossyBoy)
(Blue Rock, flip of "Don't Go Away", 1968)
04 - Oscar Toney Jr & Wilson Meadows - California Girl (RossyBoy)
(BGR CD "Guilty Of Loving You", 2001)
05 - The Precisions - Eight Reasons (Why I Love You) (RossyBoy)
      (Highland, 1962)
06 - Lou Ragland & The Band Masters - Never Let Me Go (RossyBoy)
      (Way Out, 1962)
07 - Enchantment - Enchanted Lady (Mello)
I know this from the album of the same name. Should I pick a track from one of their other albums, "Enchantment" or "Once Upon A Dream", say ? Maybe that great track by them, "Forever More" ? Or for the sake of variety, another group with a similar name, such as my old favorites Thee Enchantments. In the end I go this road and select:
08 - The Enchanted Five - Try A Little Love (RossyBoy)
       (CVS, ?)
09 - Paris - I Choose You (Mello)
The only other track I know by Paris is the Northern Soul biggie "Sleepless Nights". Maybe something by Bobby Paris, Fred Paris or the Paris Sisters! But I decide to go the other way and pick something based on the word "Choose" in the title. A few goodies spring to mind such as Eula Cooper's "Beggars Can't Be Choosey" or Tavares' "I Hope She Choses Me". But the one that wins out is:
10 - James Bell & the Highlighters Band - Trying To Get Chosen (RossyBoy)
      (Three Diamonds, 1970)
11 - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - I Really Love You (Mello)
This was an easy one for me as any compilation can withstand a couple of Harold Melvin tracks and I've had this particular response on the back burner waiting to go on a future comp:
12 - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes ft. Sharon Paige - I'm Searching For A Love (RossyBoy)
(Philadelphia International album "Wake Up Everybody", 1975)
13 - Heaven & Earth - Just In Time (Mello)
Must be a Chicago classic, because DustyRose has picked this in the past. Don't know anything about this group, so a jump off sideways picking up off "Heaven" in the title, then there's plenty of choice cuts. The selection is:
14 - The Controllers - Heaven Is Only One Step Away (RossyBoy)
(Juanna Records album "In Control", 1977)
15 - Ray, Goodman & Brown - Take It To The Limit (Mello)
I've a few albums by them, but the Eighties is getting late for my taste, so I'm going for a track from their earlier incarnation as the Moments:
16 - The Moments - All I Have (RossyBoy)
      (Stang, 1970)
17 - The Dells - Passionate Breezes (Mello)
I was tempted by "Stay In My Corner" from their Passionate Breezes album, but that re-make can't stand comparison with the original fantastic version. I love "Cool Seabreeze" by Lee Scott & The Windsors but it has to be another Chicago group, Five Sparrows aka Velvetiers aka:
18 - Gerald Sims & The Daylighters - Cool Breeze (RossyBoy)
      (TIP TOP, 1962)

  2. Ricardo, thx so much for your appreciation & comment.

I'm the culprit as to why it's incomplete...sorry for that bro.

By now, RossyBoy probably figures he hooked up with Rip Van Winkle on this comp. LOL!!

Seriously though...thx again Ricardo, I really appreciate it & surely will let ya know when I bring up the slack.
