THE LOVELITE YEARS

Due to the popularity of the other Lovelite album [With Love From The Lovelites] that I posted earlier I've decided to share another Lovelite album "The Lovelite Years." This album does not match the greatness of "With Love From The Lovelites" but still is a very good album and since it does contain 20 tracks there are at least 11 winners on this album. I picked this little gem up at http://fullundie.blogspot.com/ (a great site that contains a massive amount of soul and a lot of Motown). The stand out cuts on this album are "The Way That You Treat Me Baby" and "My Conscience."

WITH LOVE FROM THE LOVELITES

The Lovelites were a three person female group from Chicago. The original group consisted of sisters Patti Hamilton & Rozena Petty along with Barbara Peterman. In 1968 Ardell McDaniel replaced Barbara Peterman. In 1970 Joni Berlman replaced Rozena Petty and Rhonda Grayson replaced Ardell McDaniel in 1971. The group started it's own record label in 1970 call Lovelite Records. They had one R&B Top 40 radio hit produced on that label called "My Conscience". Unfortunately this talanted group disbanded in the year 1973. The Lovelites 1st album is called With Love From The Lovelites. It hit the streets in 1969. This is the album that gave them the push and momentum to start their own record label. If you like mid-tempo, girl group soul this album is definitely what you've been looking for.
