SWEET and SEXY HOMEGIRL ROLAS

Get ready to be impressed with our latest effort called SWEET & SEXY HOMEGIRL ROLAS. A big thanks goes out to the Ireland Shot Caller Rossyboy who was instrumental in the organization of this compilation and performed all editing and uploading of the link along with some imput on the actual post. Another big thank you goes out to our Chi-Town Connection Dusty Rose who fought off sickness to compose this exceptionally detailed post. The album cover was contributed by myself.

The link for this album can be found at the bottom of the page.

01 - Gladys Caine - Please Mr. D.J. 1963 on Togo label

02 - Debbie Taylor & The Hesitations - All That I Have 1969

Debbie Taylor was an American singer. Her recording career between 1968 and 1975 saw her produce some of the most impassioned vocal performances ever committed to vinyl. GWP Label (Unissued At The Time This Track Was Released In The U. K. on a 2005 KENT Cd The Song Was Also Recorded In 1970 By The Moments On Stang

03 - Eleanor Grant - For The Love I Gave Zip Records

Mid 80's, this song is better known by the Delfonics. Eleanor Grant's stylistic versatility can be attributed to her passion for entertaining. She never failed to "Wow" audiences with her unique versatility, which was delivered via Gospel, Rhythm&Blues, Rock and Pop & Funk...Grant's early experience was in gospel, though she was also attracted to R&B during her childhood. This woman, with a southern base and northern twist, achieved national acclaim with "Yes, I'm Ready" - a response to a classic Marvin Gaye Hit. A recording contract with Catawba Records established her as a professional recording artist.

04 - The Symphonies - That's What Love Will Do 1970 Ace/Kent Carnival Label

This gem hooks you from the first note, the female group sings the tender ballad with conviction as they warn about the pains love can bring...

05 - Jean Plum - I Love Him 1976

AKA Bettye Jean Plummer, Gospel and southern soul singer, Jean Plum recorded a handful of singles at Hi Records, in Memphis, which she joined in 1975. 07 - The Enjoyments - If I Lost Your Love

08 - Dynamic Superiors - Shoe Shoe Shine 1974

The Dynamic Superiors were one of Motown's most unique acts for a couple of reasons: they were from Washington, D.C. instead of Detroit, and their lead singer, Tony Washington, was an unabashed, flaming gay man who occasionally did concerts in drag. Backing him up were George Spann, Maurice Washington, George Peterbark, and Michael McCalphin. They were noted for their energetic live performances.

Unfortunately, the girls, including Eula, had dispersed to different colleges and the group wouldn’t be able to support this single. Though another group was assembled to tour behind the record, which actually managed to stick around a few years on the live show roster,The single’s hit status failed to materialize.

Combined with top notch material (both originals and covers), the group, like the Fifth Dimension, sounded like a breath of fresh air on Pop radio in 1969.
