G SIDE RECORDS PRESENTS POBRE' RICHE'S UNDERGROUND BROWN SOUND VOLUME 27

Back on the scene with the Texas soul lean is the San Antonio Sniper.....Pobre' Riche. Tonite my friend from San Antone dropped off a holiday gift for the listeners....G SIDE RECORDS PRESENTS POBRE' RICHE'S UNDERGROUND BROWN SOUND VOLUME 27.

This compilation of underground soul rolas features some fantastic music...I'll highlight just a few.

Track #2 of this comp...."I Don't Want To Lose You" is a really nice soul cut from Steve Mancha out of Detroit. He was best know for "Don't Make Me a Story Teller" & the song " Easy Living." Steve's real name is Clyde Wilson....his stage name was a recommendation from one of his producers back in the day. Steve was also part of another Motown act...100 Proof Aged in Soul. Steve recorded " I Don't Want To Lose You" which made a dent on The Billboard Top 100 and was considered a hit in March of 1966. He also released a song or two with the Holidays.

Featured cut number 10 of this grand album is by Fred Parris and The Restless Hearts. That's right the same Fred Parris that was part of The Five Satins, the famed group that issued the hit "In The Still of the Night." Track 10 "Ain't No Use in Crying" is proof that Fred could still get down on some mean tunes with the Restless Hearts.

Song 12 of this compilation features The Jaggerz with the very fine "Gotta Find My Way Back Home." The Jaggerz proved that whatever Gamble and Huff touched would turn to gold. The Jaggerz were basically a blue eyed soul group best know for "They Call Me The Rapper". That was pretty much the extent of their career. "Gotta Find A Way Back Home" was a popular hit with the college kids and those serving in the war. The year was 1968 when they kicked off their album under the Philadelphia Gamble and Huff label. The Jaggerz never matched the success of the "Rapper" and later disbanded.

A lot of hard work went into this project by Pobre' Riche so don't hold back with the comments. Give this man a shout out and hopefully this will inspire him bless us with another volume of this great series.
