The Brothers of Soul were a vocal trio composed of Fred Bridges, Richard Knight, and Bobby Eaton, who released several singles in a smooth, uptown, Motown-derived vein. Their biggest hit was 1968's "I Guess That Don't Make Me a Loser," released on Boo Records, which scraped the lower reaches of the R&B Top 40. It has since become a soul collectible, and also gained the group a following among the Latino community in Southern California. Some of their other single releases included "Can't Get You Off of My Mind and "Candy." Bridges, Knight, and Eaton also worked as a songwriting team, most prominently for Ruby Andrews during the late '60s. By the mid-'70s, the Brothers of Soul had broken up; Eaton became a session singer, while Bridges and Knight continued on as songwriters, getting a couple of compositions recorded by the Four Tops.

New York and Cali often have different histories as far as music. So many regional "listening parties!" I have heard of these guys, but am unfamiliar enough that I'm on the edge of my seat to hear them. Thank you!
ReplyDeletetroods, You are right, 'cause they did have regional success here in the mid-west, them being from Detroit. They had Chicago ties & were quite popular here. As G MAN implied, an extremely talented threesome in spite of only having one charted hit (the one mentioned above).
ReplyDeleteNice drop POBRE' RICHIE & post G MAN!
TROODS......I"m sure you'll enjoy this one for sure.....I couldn't have laid out any better than MELLO.

If interested...I forgot to mention that all of their recordings were done on three different labels (same owner) out of Chi-Town. Locating all of the individual 45's,I would think could be a problem. Another good reason to grab this comp while available!!!
