CHANGO (1975) - CHANGO

This album doesn't actually fall under the category of stone cold 60s and 70s O.G. SOUL but none the less, it is a fantastic album and I thought it was only fair that I share this with everyone. Lead guitarist George Tacktikos performs strong guitar solos, especially on "Caminando" and "Chango." Thomas Alletto plays a mean organ, and Pepe Gomez gets down as the lead singer. This first LP blends raw energy with a bit of pop. The tracks "Walk on Hell" and "Caminando," are truly the group's finest moment on the LP. Other songs alternate with fast paced numbers and slow instrumentals. "Solid Karma" is another stand out. This album was clearly well-produced and thought over, the song order being just right. Anyone that enjoys early Santana will truly enjoy this album.
