I'LL BE GONE - LEE WILLIAMS AND THE CYMBALS

Lee Williams & the Cymbals were discovered while practicing in their backyard of 127th St. in Harlem by Carnival Records owner Joe Evans, this band was signed on the spot and immediately thrust into the Carnival rotation in Newark, NJ. They released several singles for Carnival, including this smooth heartbreaker titled "I'll Be Gone." Unfortunately without proper promotion they received primarily only local attention and got lost in a sea of 45's, NYC artists and other groups that flooded the East Coast.
